just a reminder....when patching, you want to bring up your system with:
start norecovery nosysstart
(odds are it's the sysstart that was the tip of the iceberg that resulted in the network being started...)
when i patch, i take the start command a step further:
start norecovery nosysstart logon=donna,manager.sys,install
(it saves a step and keeps the utterance of less-than-polite words to a minimum because i forgot to add ';hipri' onto the hello string :-) - d

Subject: [HP3000-L] patchix phase 2
phase 2 of patching does a restore from the patch tape created in phase 1
of the patching process. the restore tries to restore about 140 files but
fails on one file. the file is snmpxl.net.sys. it claims something else
is accessing this file. yes there is only the console logged on so there
must be some system process opening the file. we have done a snmpcontrol
stop to try to free up this file. using mpex i find that a process
executing a program netcp.net.sys is accessing the XL. how do i release
this file so the restore will be complete?
