We upgraded to MPE iX 5.0 two weeks ago, and experienced
two problems related to the upgrade:
. A Cobol '85 program that had not been changed in two
years failed when it attempted to update a single record
parameter file saying either bad mode or end-of-file. I
don't know why the code ever worked: the file was opened
input-output sequential file, the first record was read
using "READ", and at the end of the program it was
updating using "WRITE". Since I viewed the code as the
real problem and I ran out of time, I changed the
"WRITE" to "REWRITE" and had no further problem.
. We had to also update the OCS Express software, and in
the process of doing this, the calendar was affected.
I was told we should have "reloaded it" by the person
who didn't do it. I don't know the root cause of this
problem, but it caused several jobs to start that
should not have.
Overall, we are quite pleased.
