I did not find a native 3000 editor that will do this but, you could
download the file to your PC edit the file then upload it again.

There is a pretty cool editor from Whisper Technology that lets you edit
files on the HP3000 from you PC using a GUI interface. There is a listener
job that runs on the 3000 which comes bundled with the software. Actually
you get listeners for several platforms including HP-UX, Solaris, win32 and
linux. It is not to expensive and you can download a 30 day demo at
http://www.whispertech.com/pstudio.htm. I just opened a file on the 3000
with a record length of 800 bytes no problem.
