Aimee,

Based on your messages I'm assuming that your vista reports are on the
HP3000 (as opposed to being on a separate Unix server and using NBSpool to
capture and transfer them to the other platform).

Perhaps your option would be to transfer the reports directly from the
spooler (since one can have multiple spoolfiles of the same report name),
or perhaps you could construct some scheme where each flat file is moved
into the posix domain with some means of using the report's version number
for maintaining file name uniqueness. You'll also need to consider how to
transfer the report name and any other pertinent information (folder name,
job name, number of pages, creation date and time), do those items need to
be made part of the report or can they be 'sent' separately (I have no
idea what Crystal Reports requirements are).

One possible scenario could be:

1. Use 'Vista.pub.netbase' to get a list of the folders and their
contents (some 'cut' and 'paste' and formatting would be required).

2. Generate spoolfiles for the vista reports (either at the folder or the
report level)
(some means for making sure that the spool files are ordered in a
manner that they can be matched with the file generated in #1. Perhaps
the spoolfile id can somehow be incorporated into the same file).

3. Create a command file that can use the above file, extract the
corresponding spoolfile and 'send' it to crystal reports (I assume in
another server).
(Some folks on the list can provide examples of how to email
reports from the HP3000 that can be adapted).

On other possibility would be to see if Quest has some method for
extracting vista reports from the HP3000 (their tool may be designed for
folks that want to move their reports to a Unix based version of
VistaPlus. I know they did create some utility to help folks migrate from
VistaPlus versions 2.X to 3.X and later).

Regards
Paul Christidis
