A number of sites have reported problems installing the A.G2.00 version of
ALLBASE. (See my post from 10/24/97 below). It appears that Allbase
G1.21 was released with several patch ID's. One of those patches is bad
and ALL subsequent installations of ALLBASE over that patch will fail.

ALLBASE patch SQLJXK4 (Allbase A.G1.21) was available for download
from the ESC earlier this year. Apparently, it was improperly linked with
a procedure in the wrong XL Module. Subsequent to that, HP created a patch
SQLJXP6 (again Allbase A.G1.21) that must be installed to remove the bad
module from the XL and get ALLBASE back into sync with the normal builds
of the product. Failure to apply this patch results in a later termination
of the patch process in LINKEDIT with a Duplicate Symbol Error.

I strongly recommend that any site that has SQLJXK4 currently installed,
request the SQLJXP6 patch from the Response Center (it is NOT available for
download) before they attempt installing from my earlier post OR the coming
release of Express-3. Please check HPSWINFO.PUB.SYS for an indication of
the presence of the SQLJXK4 patch.

of downloadable patches (express 3 and POST-express 3) that will give you
this functionality.

ATCJXY6A -- HP36385B B.G2.05 IMAGE/SQL (post Express 3)
SQLJXR2B -- HP36216-02 A.G2.00 ALLBASE version A.G2.00 (post express 3)
                               with ODBCLINK/SE

For users of IMAGE/SQL, ATCJXY6A and SQLJXR2B patches correct 2 problems
with partial key retrievals on IMAGE Btree-s that were found very late in
the Beta Process.

FYI, I have successfully downloaded and installed this combination of
software to (finally) get our 928 (MPE 5.5x2) off of Beta software for both
ODBCLINK and Image B-trees. What a relief to finally be in PRODUCTION!

If you have Third-Party Indexing software, you will want to contact your
software vendor for the appropriate versions to co-exist with B-Trees and
provide the proper statistics to the SQL optimizer. For Superdex users
the latest shipping version is 4.1.49.
