Since the VA7410 has dual head controller, you can have two connections to the HP and one connection to the CommandView workstation.  The commandview workstation is required to update the firmware, and do some performance logging.

OK, I'm getting feedback from some that a Windows box is required, and
will require either a dedicated fiber connection or a fiber switch.

I know I have a k-class 9000 in Belgium running a VA7100, and I
distinctly remember the disk guy configufing the VA directly from the
UX box without a dedicated fiber connection using a character-based
utility. Is something that simple not available on the MPE side?
