We had a rash of failed stores due to "Excessive tape errors". We finally settled upon replacing tapes after a year. These tapes would typically be used about once a week. Based on published specifications and previous traffic on this list, a DLT-IV cartridge should last for at least 15,000 uses.

define 'shorter tape life"......

one month ? one year ? one week ?

How do you know it no longer is a 'working' tape ? restores fail ? stores
fail ?

the rumor I hear is that they can be dropped and damaged a lot easier than
the others....

inquiring minds want to know ....
