Well I ain't no AC Nielson, so....

Of the proposal I made last week that there be an electronic forum where
vendors could advertise, promote, their products and services, I received
only 7 replies from this group. So there is no statistical weight to this
survey. Maybe Easter weekend wasn't such a good time to take a poll! :)

Of the 7, 6 thought it was a good idea (1 just wanted to know what "OTTOMH"
meant - Off The Top Of My Head).

A couple thought it should be an Interex sponsored facility, while some
others pointed out there is project underway to provide this through 3K.com.
The project at 3K, even though a vendor, will be provided uncensored. It
wasn't clear what categorizing and search facilities will be available.

Cost was addressed by a couple of respondants, though it was commonly agreed
that a basic entry should be free. Extra costs were to be sheeted home to
the vendor, rather than the user.

Nobody addressed the concerns of legalities, or managing the materials. One
unnamed source (thanks Stan), pointed out an error in my phrase

>I can also see problems with ensuring some voracity in [the vendor's] claims

that it should be "veractity" (truthfulness). I don't know -- I am
concerned about the vendor's greediness as well! :)

All in all - a poor straw poll. I'll prefer to put it down to poor polling
technique, rather than lack of interest from the user community. Still,
there is the possibility that the user's don't care for a vendor listing at
all. Maybe everyone's happy with the status quo?
