If you have any remote communications devices (eg. Hubs, muxes, etc.)
connected to the HP, it is possible that the trouble is originating with
one of them malfunctioning and producing an ultra-high volume of bogus
transactions. Such an event brought our previous HP3K to its knees. Once
identified, the malfunctioning device was shut-off and the I/O bottleneck
disappeared immediately.
