From the http://www.php.net site:
PHP is a server-side, cross-platform, HTML embedded scripting language.
PHP is a tool that lets you create dynamic web pages. PHP-enabled web pages
are treated just like regular HTML pages and you can create and edit them the
same way you normally create regular HTML pages.

If you've heard any of us speak about products like "Cold Fusion" or "iHTML"
before, then "PHP" is similar to those. One of the reasons PHP is starting
to get a lot of notoriety (at least here) is that it is another "Open Source" project
similar to Apache and Linux. That means that the source code is openly available,
and potentially "portable" to MPE/iX. The combination of an Apache/iX web server
and PHP would give the MPE community access to an easy to use "Web Application
Server" at virtually no cost. The other big benefit that I see with it is that MPE/iX will
also be able to take advantage of the thousands of existing (and future) PHP scripts
and applications that are written. Add to that the potential of adding access to MPE's
native files, and you've got a pretty powerful package.
