HP offers a suite of IBM-to-HP3000 networking products. The tricky part of
your question depends on what kind of networking you want to do. Once upon a
time, IBM networking meant using RJE (or NRJE) to submit batch jobs to the
mainframe from a remote system such as an IBM 2780 or 3780 or 8100. There are
HP 3000 based products available from HP to do this (that is, the 3000
masquerades as one of these IBM boxes). For interactive access to the
mainframe, you want SNA IMF or SNA DHCF, which makes the 3000 look like a 3270
controller. For program-to-program communication, the 3000 supports LU 6.2 or
PU 2.1 APIs. There's also support available for SNADs (DISOSS). The links
supported include SNA/SDLC, BSC, SNA/X.25 and SNA/Token Ring (not to mention
NetView alerts). If you want more information, email me and I'll put you in
touch with the marketing person for HP 3000 networking products...
