Gentle HP3000 Listers,

The Wednesday lunch for this august body at HP World came off swimmingly.
All 4 tables were packed with a total attendance of 40+ listers.

We had a lively discussion, at least at the table where I sat. And judging
from the laughter and the arguments raging at the other tables, the situation
was quadruplicated. I enjoyed meeting, once again, face to face the
gentlefolk who make up this list. It is always nice to refresh one's memory
of a face-and-name pair. We discussed some of the memorable threads within
recent memory and discussed some issues further.

To a (wo)man, everyone was very appreciative of Jeff's efforts in
coordinating this list and shielding us from the evil encroachements of the
foul-mouthed shock-value-expression masses, to wit the Mac is S*** stuff. I
for one, am glad Jeff is back at his place of employment and is once again
sweeping that foul garbage away before it hits my awe-struck eyes.

Lost in a sea of HP fans, it was nice to be able to be with you, even if it
was only for a few minutes.

My only wishes are that there would have been more of you, that we would have
had a bigger table, and. . . more time.

Just a few personal notes on the conference.

My two high points were introducing Harry who gave a very uplifting
presentation about the future of the HP 3000 and introducing Olivier who also
gave a great presentation on a rather obscure subject, OpenView.

My low point was the last day as we folded up the conference and went home.

Kind regards,

Denys. . .

P.S. Looking forward to IPROF (which by the way has my vote to keep the name
as is.)
