I've experienced this problem in the past. It appears to me that the HP3000
FTP client does not transfer files accurately to an OS that does not
support fixed length records. I've experienced this problem with windoze
and HP-UX. When I FTP files to an IBM OS/390 FTP client, there are no
probelms. This OS supports fixed length records.

Bytestream transfers worked for me, whether the file was bytestream or not.
If the FTP is orginating on the HP3000, type the directive 'type l' (letter
L). If originating from another system, try the directive 'quote type l'.

Hope this helps
