The amount paid/refunded at tax filing time is of little
value to determining how much you are being taxed. What is
of more value is to find out how much you paid Fed-tax vs Mass-tax
for the entire year by taking the amount withheld from your
(pay-checks + any-qtrly-pre-payments) and then subtract any
refund amount at filing or add any amount due/paid at filing.

Of course, this doesn't even begin to factor in the other taxes
like oasdi/medicare (7.65%) that most have to also pay...
