I've always hated how counter-intuitive this process is. But here goes,
anyway. The IP address of an HP3000 is configured as follows:
:RUN NMMGR.PUB.SYS
Press these keys in this order:
Open Config (F1)
NS (F2)
Unguided Config (F2)
Go To Netxport (F1)
Go To NI (F3)
Look at the names listed under Configured Network Interfaces. There
should be at least two, one labeled LOOP and the other something else,
usually LAN1. Type that other name into the 'Network interface name' box
and press
Modify (F6)
Go To PROTOCOL (F1)
Go To IP (F1)
FINALLY, this is where you can change your IP address and press
Save Data (F6)
Once you have done that, press <Ctrl-Home> to get to the top line and
type 'Validate' and press <Enter> (*not* <Return> -- this is a form
screen after all).
Validate NETXPORT (F1)
When done validating (assuming no errors), press <Return>.
Press <Ctrl-Home> to go to the top line, type 'EXIT' and press <ENTER>.
(You can spend a lot of time backing out by pressing <F8>, but why
bother?)
At the MPE prompt type:
:NETCONTROL UPDATE=INTERNET;NET=LAN1 (or whatever your lan is called).
There oughta be an easier way than drilling down through 8 screens. If
anyone else knows one, please let me know!
