Do you need an absolute number to decimal places and what containers are the dates in? Format? Approximate for a difference of months is relative.

Let's say you have two dates of:

20110731 and 20110701, 30 days but is that a month difference, technically no correct?

Consider the dates of:
20110801 and 20110731, a difference of one day but a different month, technically yes.

Do the days enter into the equation at all?

Suprtool can do relative month calculations in $date function but not really enough information to see if this applies. Do you need to trap the number of months, i.e. have it calculated or just use it in an if statement.

Neil

Thx neil, but an approximate will not work.
