There was plenty of noise in the press regarding HP's release of Open
View on WinNT; I can't validate Win95 claims. But I have heard nothing
about DTC Manager on "anything" but Win3.1 (14.1) or WinForWG (14.2).
I have made noise for two years requesting DTC Manager on "anything"
but Win3.1/WfWG3.11 since I can't use that particular OpenView platform
for anything else. ComputerWorld and NetworkComputing both had articles
about OpenView on WinNT, but no mention of DTC Manager (surprise?).

We have gotten OV & DTC Mgr running on Win3.1 over WRQ's stacks, but it
disables polling. We have never succeeded in getting OV or DTC Mgr to
run on Win95. The new product appears to be WinNT only.

DTC Manager is "special" in that it must access raw sockets to talk to
the DTCs with AFCP (etc) protocols, which you cannot do with the basic
Winsock API. ICMP pings (basis of polling) require raw sockets, and
the Microsoft and WRQ implementations are different in that respect.
But the former DTC AFCP protocol requires raw socket access, and thus
far has only been tailored for NDIS stacks (reliably) though there are
some ODI implementations (and some others) -- it just won't fly with
the out-of-the-box MickeySoft Winsock on Win95.

As I often say, I'd love to be corrected if that isn't true. I would
like nothing better than to convert my OV DTC MGR workstation to Win95
and/or WinNT.
