Mirroring is always RAID.  RAID isn't always mirroring.

Nope, sorry.  RAID's defining characteristic is, and always
has been :), the simple expansion of its acronym:
   RAID = Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks.

It isn' mirroring.  That's one thing you *could* do with RAID.
It isn't striping.  That's one thing you *could* do with RAID.
It isn't JBOD.  That's one thing you *could* do with RAID.
