Well, James, MAESTRO does exactly what you telling 'em:
First, you stop it.
And the shutdown is not executed because MAESTRO is already stopped
(JBATCHMN is gone).
And the hang is the result of the ;WAIT of course ....
See CONMAN HELP SHUTDOWN and
HELP STOP
We're using only STOP;WAIT because we're not in a MAESTRO Network.
We do also have no entry in services.net
Hope that will help, Andreas Schmidt, CSC, Germany

Subject: [HP3000-L] Maestro Issue.
Greetings folks!
Ok,, we are having a problem with Maestro "Hanging" during its shutdown
process. We use these commands to shut it down with before our backup
starts.
!Echo STOP > STOPCON.pub
!Echo EXIT >> STOPCON.pub
!Continue
!RUN CONMAN.MAESTRO.CCC < STOPCON.pub
!Pause 30
!Echo Exit > Exits
!RUN CONMAN.MAESTRO.CCC;INFO="SHUTDOWN;WAIT";PRI=CS < Exits
!Pause 30
The Stop part of this appears to be working fine. The shutdown section
is where it "hangs".
Has anyone seen this before and have a clue as to what could be causing
the Hang??? Also.. .Maestro listens on port 31111. Does the need to be
added to the services.net file?
TIA
James
