Donna has a good point...

If the job fails before it reaches the print command, the JCL would not
print.

You could use a "spooler" monitoring job running in the background.
But, if there are a lot of error messages generated (i.e. displays and etc)
it would be a mess.
The monitoring job could check the size of listing, then print jcl under a
given size, or
print it if there is an error.

Some system utilities like JobPak from NSD have an option to print out
sections of the JCL, and to page or e-mail if there is a problem.

Thanks Donna!

mc

i'm going to wade-in....

while mike's latest revision (:-) is really not a bad idea, what happens in
a
(badly written) run-away job?? yikes! double the pleasure? might a better
solution be to look at the stdlist once the job has completed (and yes, this
would imply that the stdlist has a priority of 1(? or at least low enough to
not
print))? if the size of the file is 'small' (recognizing that it could be
1000's of lines long), then replicate it off to another printer. it's
something
to think about.... - d
