I was wondering when somebody was going to point that out. It should also be
noted that it is a minority government with the Conservatives only holding
124 of the 308 seats in parliament.
In case you get your Canadian election results off CNN, here are some of the
details:

Conservatives 124 seats 36.3% popular vote
Liberal 103 30.2%
Bloc Quebecois 51 10.5%
NDP 29 17.5
Independent 1

Green Party 0 4.5%
Christian Heritage Party 0 .2%
Marxist Leninist 0 .1%
Marijuana Party 0 .1%
Canadian Action Party 0 .05%
Communist 0 .03%
Western Block Party 0 .01%

So even if you consider the Conservative party to be right-wing (by US
standards), they're still outnumbered by left-wing parties who will be able
to keep them from doing anything silly (like revoking the right to same sex
marriage).

Of all the parties shown here (I left out the wing-nut fringe parties), the
only ones that might be further right than say, the US Democratic party,
would be the Christian Heritage Party, the Canadian Action Party, and the
Western Block Party, which together got less than 1% of the vote.
