Jeff,

You wrote that "CSY has said that they will entertain many different
proposals
that will benefit our customer, our partners and HP." I would be much
happier to hear that CSY is *committed* to placing MPE/iX into new hands,
and will do so by a date certain.

I'm sure that CSY has certain technical and/or legal requirements for a hand
over -- maintaining confidentiality of people or companies named in source
code comments for instance, copyright & license considerations, etc. The
key business question here in my mind is this. How confident can HPe3000
users be that by some date CSY will turn over MPE/iX to a body, consortium,
or organization that meets CSY's technical and legal requirements (assuming
of course that such a proposal exists)? Is this a promise I can bet my job
or career on? Right now the answer *seems* to be yes but there is big gap
between that and a "you can take this to the bank" promise. The follow up
questions that arise then include 1) what are CSY's requirements? and 2)
what date?

Your comments please.

CSY has said that they will entertain many different proposals
that will benefit our customer, our partners and HP.

I am not aware of any serious discussions taking place -- not to say
they aren't since I am not a manger, but I have not heard anything.

No such plans exist, AFAIK. The port to IA-64 is massively large.
