A little clarification...

The documentation set for PowerHouse Series 8 is only shipped as Adobe
PDF files, on CD-ROM. Printed copies of this documentation are
available at cost upon request.

The first version of the PowerHouse Books CD contains the "generic"
UNIX documentation, together with an MPE/iX specific Upgrade Guide
which details all of the changes made to PowerHouse through versions
6.09, 6.19, 7.09, 7.29, 8.09 and the current 8.19. The upgrade guide
also details other upgrade considerations, changes to PowerHouse
behavior among the different versions, suggested upgrade procedures
and details of the QDD-to-PDL conversion utility included with the
latest MPE/iX versions of PowerHouse. A letter was included to our
MPE/iX customers explaining that work was already underway to
incorporate the MPE/iX specifics of PowerHouse into the PDF version
of the documentation set, and that they should continue to use the
7.29 manuals for any MPE/iX specifics until the next version of the
CD was ready.

Unfortunately the initial shipment of the PowerHouse Books CDs were
incorrectly labeled as being for OpenVMS. They did contain the
generic manual set and a letter we sent to all users who received
these CDs explaining the labeling error.

The next version of the PowerHouse Books CD, containing the MPE/iX
specific syntax and discussions, is in the final stages of
production...and will be shipped to all supported MPE/iX customers
as soon as it becomes available. I should know by the end of this
week when exactly that will be, and will be happy to post that
information here as soon as I have it confirmed.

Extra copies of the PowerHouse Books CD may be obtained though
the usual Cognos sales channels.

One final note. The documentation for Axiant 4GL, our visual
PowerHouse development environment, is provided as a Windows Help
file and contains a complete reference to the PowerHouse 4GL
language as well as the Axiant development environment.

Best regards,

Conrad

Jamie,

You may have a little difficulty in 'converting' the PH 'on-line' help into
'WinHelp' format. First of all I'd bet that Cognos would NOT agree to it
and
second, as of PH version 8.19 Cognos has stopped delivering the 'on-line'
help
files. They are making it available ONLY on CD and the last time I checked
they
did NOT even have the HP3000 version available.

Cognos is 'asking' us to use their VMS version CD for now.

Paul
