follows...

To Terry - no, Cognos has not (and will not) changed this date.

To Richard - Cognos has told MBS and HP that support for a product is
only good for a specific period of time following release.  Normally,
this is dictated by a follow-on release.  In this case, since they have
already released the 8.xx code, there is no need for futher support
beyond the 12-31-1999 timeframe.  As I understood Bob Deskin at one
time, lack of "development support" means that they will not even field
questions on a support-issue basis for this product.

Terry went on to write:

I believe Terry is correct, but I think this presents a major problem
for all of the Amisys users.  The Powerhouse 7.29 version was the first
Y2K compliant version of Cognos, but it is no longer officially
sanctioned as such by Cognos for two reasons.  First, it was
Y2K-compliant - but not Y2K friendly.  (To Cognos this is more than a
mere question of semantics - but that should be another thread...)
Secondly, how can a product that has no support in the year 2000 be a
basis for Y2K compliancy?
