We are talking about a world war.  I think it is safe to assume that (1)
they teach world history in Canada, and (2) people don't stop learning when
they finish school.

I thought that Denys was Canadian.... He's written a good synopsys of the
battle of Midway!  Do they teach American history in Canada?

A history point: Had the Japanese attacked Midway with ONE combined fleet
instead of fragmenting their fleet into pieces to do other things like
attack
the Aleutian Islands, the outcome of this battle would have been quite
different.  The Japanese sent two aircraft carriers off on that exercise.
Had they been at Midway, perhaps the American attack would have been less
successful?  Perhaps the Japanese counter attack on the American carriers
would have been more successful???

Points to ponder.  Maybe even with aircraft carriers, it's better to tackle
one task at a time just as it often is with more mundane tasks?

Trivia question: If today is the anniversary of this battle... how was this
calculated?  Midway sits midway across the Pacific almost on the
International Date Line... should we consult TZTAB some more...?

Perhaps the Japanese think the anniversary was yesterday?
