Knowing how to read an 80 column card wouldn't have changed that.  I 
would guess that your OO skills are sorely lacking compared to the 20 
odd year olds working for me.  From my perspective, I seriously 
question someone who is spending all this time in an attempt to 
reproduce MPEX in COBOL on a platform that is fast dying, learning 
how to use AIF's and worried about reported extents on a file instead 
of spending time trying to remain viable by learning a useful skill 
like php/mysql web applications or AJAX.
