Nobody can predict exactly what the outcome of the war with Iraq will be.

Many believe that the people of Iraq will celebrate when Saddam is removed.
I hope this is true and that no civilians are killed in the process.
Unfortunately, this is not likely and every death will be a tragedy. I
expect many deaths will be caused by Saddam's own actions against the
invading forces.

I think the important point you are missing is intent.

There is no intent to kill civilians by the US military. However Saddam has
called for the killing of American civilians at every opportunity.

I do not accept that the deaths of American civilians has any less meaning
than the deaths of any civilians in Iraq.

In the end, our president has the responsibility to protect the US and its
people. He says he has evidence that Iraq is a danger to us and has ties to
terrorism. He has provided much of this evidence to us, I believe him.

Do you really believe we should stand here and take whatever anyone does to
us without lifting a finger in response?

That is not peace, it is cowardice.
