They just came by and ripped out my 14-inch monitor and replaced it with a
ViewSonic 17E (17-inch).  So I've got a moment and I'm perusing the manual
for the thing (yes, I DO feel ashamed about reading the manual), I get to
the Troubleshooting chapter and it's got:
 
PROBLEM: Image is distorted
 
POSSIBLE CAUSE: Is the earth's magnetic field interfering with the display?
 
REMEDY: Face monitor east for best image quality.
