Wirt,

My posting was intended to complement/praise you on your wide and varied
knowledge. It was NOT intended to sound facetious in any way and if you feel
that then I sincerely apologise. In my year of membership of this list I've
been constantly amazed at the amount of knowledge that you hold on a very
wide variety of subjects. So in all truth I think of you as an 'Oracle' who
is willing to pass on his knowledge to those who are not so 'knowledgeable'.

highest regards,
Robert

Wirt,
I think you might be mistaken in your evident assumption that Robert's post
was facetious. I for one am very impressed with the amazing range of
subjects about which you are knowledgeable, and appreciate your posts very
much. Although the translation of this Spanish posting did not require
esoteric knowledge (the red/net etymology sure did!), I think Robert was
merely using it as an opportunity to pay you a richly deserved compliment.

I'm not so much of an insensitive lout as not to know that my answers aren't
sometimes irritating, but I blame you, Robert, as much as anyone. You should
have known better than to have ever said, "Huh?", in the presence of a
know-it-all.

The kids in our neighborhood learned that lesson a very long time ago :-).
