Hah! Another topic that I know something about, but I have nothing
useful to add!

The Communicator article that Bill Cadier has already cited is the only
documentation I am aware of. I implemented the six Boolean routines as
simple C functions and included them in the COBOL II/iX run-time
library.

Subject: [HP3000-L] Intrinsic Documentation

While looking at an old posting on the subject of data encryption, I saw
a
fragment of COBOL code that called an intrinsic named HP_BYTE_XOR. This

excited me because I had scoured the system intrinsics manual,
programmers'
guides, compiler library manuals, and any other online documentation I
could
think of to find intrinsics that can do various kinds of byte functions,

such as the exclusive OR cited here. Alas, I could find nothing. Now I

know such intrinsics exist, but I can't find them documented anywhere.
Can
anyone direct me to the correct document? Is it available in an
electronic
form? TIA.
