Hello folks @ 3000-l,

Re: MPE Console Emulator?

The details of the HP Secure Web Consoles can be found at:

http://www.hp.com/products1/unix/management/confmanagement/swc/index.html

I also found a bunch of success stories and details in the 3000-l archives.

My success is I have 3 Secure Web Consoles (SWC) installed on 3 of my
4 hp-e3000 diagnostic systems.

Two of the SWC function as the primary console and they are successful in
draining off the console messages to the bit bucket while I frequently do
not have a web browser session established to the SWC box. One of the SWC
function as the parallel console on my third system and operates
successfully
with the "break" key functioning as the toggle between the real console and
the SWC parallel console.

I have not experienced any problems / system hangs with SWC boxes attached
as the primary or parallel console ports. This is important as it is
possible to hang a MPE hp-e3000 system "if" the console port is xoff'ed or
a read in progress (hit space bar or any key in response to the ":" prompt)
as the console buffers are filled with logon, logoff and tellop messages.

I hope this helps.
