I'm aware of a tar bug which causes this problem, but Perl/iX shouldn't contain
those types of files, and nobody else has ever reported this type of install
trouble with Perl/iX before.

This however is due to a well-known and despised tar problem where existing
files don't get overlaid properly. So the workaround is to purge all Perl/iX
files and then do the reinstall so tar doesn't try to overlay anything that
already exists.
