Hello All,

I'm trying to figure out what the HP Spooler does to our reports before they
are sent to the printer.

In our Cobol programs, we open a spool file with some options on the end
",UT,,LP(CCTL)", write a bunch of stuff in there, and close the file. Once
the file is closed, it automatically goes to the printer. Prints out great.

Now when I port the program to Linux, I removed the options from the file
name. When I print out the document, it writes the file to disk. The file
looks good, contains the proper escapes & everything. When I send the file to
the printer, the printer processes the job for about 3 seconds and does
nothing. Does the 3000 append anything to get the job to actually print?

To insure that the Linux box is sending files "as is" to the printer, I sent a
sample PCL file created by a Windows Print driver to the printer. It printed
perfectly.

There seems to be something missing.

-Pete
