This is a big, but temporary, problem with people in my boat - soon to be
losing their current positions due to curtailed HP3000 development plans.
Many speculate that we will be in demand again as 1) 3K users fire up their
conversion activities, and 2) many existing 3K developers transition to
other platforms.

Nope, my gut feeling is that most customers (except for the
larger ones) haven't really even begun. Maybe they're in denial
or maybe they're hoping OpenMPE provides them refuge, but in
either case outside of idle talk no firm plans have been made.
The one thing that *has* happened is that projects have been
put on hold unless they were far along or deemed critical and
can't wait. This probably is a combination of the economic
downturn as well as the 3000's EOL announcement, but unless
things turn around soon I may be asking people if they want
fries with their shake! :(
