I forgot one more problem we ran into when upgrading from V delta 3 to
Platform 3P.
 
It turned out that right after completing (or so we thought) the update, we
discovered that disc cacheing software was missing. Even though it was a
series 70 that we were upgrading.
 
We then looked at the packing list and, sure enough, no disc cacheing
included. We even had prior versions of the software (v delta 9, Platform 1p
to name two) all which included disc cacheing.
 
In the end we managed (the next day) to get hold of the appropriate USL file
(U5EU281A.USL.SYS, to be precise) and add it manually to SL.PUB.SYS.
 
The lesson we learned was to never take anything for granted - especially
SUBSYS tape contents.
