And someone somewhere is writing the next iteration of the Good Times virus
hoax, or email tracking give away hoax... This serves as a reminder of how
truly 'alien' someone else's reasoning can be, without achieving terrestrial
intelligence.

Usually, we tend to project our own ways of thinking on others; I read that
some sociologists have found that their polls are more predictive when they
ask people what they think others will do. People then respond with their
projection onto these hypothetical others of their own most likely coarse of
action.

While I fear careless users more than hackers, being "on the 'net"
potentially exposes one to a greater number of the latter. Unfortunately,
having a reasonably (but not completely) secured system may only delay an
attack, while someone with more time than morals or sense can continue
'hacking away' until they discover a vulnerability. Once in, they may do
senseless damage for no apparent reason. If only they would target spammers
instead!

I have a hard time understanding why anyone would forge
something they get no return on the investment?
