These are called palindromes.

Here is a famous palindromic exchange between Adam and Eve:

  Adam:    Madam, I'm Adam.

  Eve:     Name no one, man.

When Napolean was asked about his experiences while in exile, he replied:

  Able was I ere I saw Elba!
