Is there any way of determining the "width" of a spoolfile, i. e., the maximum column number
actually used.

For example, I could set a file equation:

FILE REPORT;DEV=LP,1;REC=-228,,F,ASCII

but actually use only the first 210 positions.

It's the 210 that I am trying to find, not the 228.
