     Hello,

It would depend if you see the need to use HPINSTAL to update your OS
from CDs. I use CD-ROM for OS updates and find it considerably better
than the tape options. You have the ability to generate a CSLT to
update another system with your own environment and a much shorter
     install process.

     Best,

Our system, acquired two years ago, has a CD-ROM drive and we have
never used it.

We just received our new HP-3000/979 and it does not have a CD-ROM.
Since a CD-ROM is now an option, would a CD-ROM or second DDS-3
tape be
a better unit to have.

I would appreciate this groups enlightened opinion.
