Here's what I use for PINGing by name:

PARM NODE="!HPSYSNAME"
RUN NETTOOL.NET.SYS;INFO="PING;PING !NODE;EXIT;EXIT Y"

Not fancy, but it works!

would a command file that does pings by *name* be a little bit helpful? we
(longs) found it very frustrating that the mpe interface (not inside of
nettool) to ping only accepts ip addresses. jim alexander wrote a handy
little script that wraps nettool that makes pinging less
annoying. - d
