For the non-biologists on the list, this statement is indicative of a
behavior called "philopatry" (literally, love of home). The area where you're born
and raised will always be the most comfortable to you, thus you have to take
these kind of statements with a grain of salt. While philopatric behavior is
exceedingly common in all mammal species, it is widespread throughout the Metazoa,
including the arthropods. Here's simply a random example in regards to sharks:

However, as far to the veracity of  Wisconsin being "heaven on earth," ha!
I've been to Wisconsin -- and I keep my meat locker warmer than Wisconsin.
