As far as i know the networked printer has to be fully 'jetdirect compatible' to 
work with the 3K's own spooler. 
If you look at the device configuration in sysgen's io configurator you'll 
notice the id of the device being hptcpjd which i think stands for Hewlett
Packard TCP JetDirect.

An external jetdirectbox will most probabely do the trick, allthough you might 
not be able to use all your printer's options.
I have no experience with third party spooler software.
