Speaking only for myself, the reason we are doing this is to get rid
of the coax once and for all. We have had a lot of problems with bad
coax cables and connectors (these were all purchased already terminated,
we didn't make any of our own cables). We are having periodic "hangs"
on our network and when I inquired about new (faster) hubs from one
of my vendors, he asked to see the topology. As soon as he saw the
coax, he said there's the problem. According to him, 10Base2 cannot
run as fast as 10BaseT (he said it, not me!), but that is a secondary
cause for us. We just want the coax out.
