i'm torn.....because i can see value in knowing (say from the 'ftmfcode'
option) that my file is a link file. if finfo quietly follows the link,
there's information being lost....well, buried may be a better way of saying
it. otoh, i think that my desire probably exceeds jeff's one-word patch
deal :-) - d
