So, either this was a troll or a poor choice of words in the poster's
second language. Seems like it really was the latter. If the former,
there are no lack of 'trolling' horror stories (yes, in the fishing
sense). I saw a poster in a ISP forum who replied to disgruntled
customers of the forum's vendor that they were wasting their time! When
someone asked what he was doing there, he said that he came to research
one of the vendor's products, and concluded that it was not the product
to buy. He never replied to invitations to leave, but never left. I
expect to hear about that guy on the 6 o'clock news someday. Some people
will do stranger things to get attention...

As for MPE and OO, I am excited about the OO appendix to the ANSI 97
COBOL standard. When COBOL 97 ships, someone will probably sell some
books. Me, I already have my 'OO for COBOL programmers' book. Calls to
objects costs performance, but improve standardization by giving just
one method to access a given record.

Gotta go. Time to get back to finding which program is writing only 388
bytes to a 389 byte record, then figure out why, and what to do to fix
the file...
