A couple of quick ideas off the top of my head:

You may want to setup a variable in the command file (or JCL) that runs
the program, and says what decimal type to use, and query that var from
within the COBOL prog.

You could also setup a simple flat file with this info (and could
contain other run info, too).

In either case, you'll need to set up a front end prog/cmd file to
configure the contents of the var or file.

well preserved body, but rather to skid in

Subject: [HP3000-L] CoBol question date/numbers in different format

Hi all,

I have a question about CoBOL-programs in different countries.
We use Microfocus-Cobol
My software should soon run also in India and turkey. Currently it runs
in the
US and China.
I currently us the US-Format for dates (MM/DD/YY) and the US-Format for
amounts (99,999,999.00).
Therefore I do not use the statement decimal-point is comma.
Now my software is supposed to run in India and Turkey.
At least in Turkey they use the date-format (DD/MM/YY) which I can
change.
However they use the amount (99.999.999,00). Therefore I need the
decimal-
point is comma.
Anybody has knowledge how to do this dynamic depending on the account I
am in?
Otherwise just because of this, I have to copy all programs for this
slight
modification.

Thanks for any help.
Sorry if this should be marked "OT". I apologize

Michael
