AH - HA!! Finally a soul mate!

So far we are printing bar code labels on Meto (Datamax) label printers
directly from mpe where we can connect the printers serially off a DTC.
A little code is needed to send a header, and some to make addressing
coordinates of the text and the barcode, the font of the bar, its vertical
and horizontal size....font being the most significant.
Sample of actual spool file sent to a Meto Mi-4, bounded by "

"
L
H20
SE
PE
D11
191100600160024TBARS TEST LABEL
1A52050007900249314790022779
191100400390024H=5  V=2,font=50
E
"
Lines 1 to 5 are header, E is terminator. Part of each preamble is x-y
coordinates.
Actual displayed data starts at col 16, line 6 is just text, line 7 is a
barcode of "9314790022779", line 8 shows parms use - Horizontal
multiplier=5, vert = 2, font=50 - 1/2" high IIRC.

Desperately trying to find a way to address these printers via Ethernet
(have optional cards in them), either directly (obviously preferred) or via
Jetdirect box, with NO LUCK so far, so we can put a printer where its needed
independent of DTC locations. Have set all possible options in npconfig.

Local Meto dealer has been in touch with Datamax, so far no response. HP
lasers of course print via jetdirect, my old Epson (dry) goes through the
motions of printing, a panasonix kpx ? does not respond at all, sometimes
managed to get data out of an NEC pinwriter, but nothing useful. The meto
will print reams of labels in hex mode (think FCOPY from=a;to=*lp;hex) when
sent via jetdirect, but this is not at all useful.

If you have better luck, please pass it around.

Thanks,
jp

Subject: [HP3000-L] HP3000 and Barcode

OK... I've read tons and tons of articles and need some information on ho
w
to generate and print barcodes directly from our HP3000 to a HP Laserjet

printer or using a PostScript method. Does anyone have information that

would help me get started?
