Ok, to summarize responses to everyone's excellent suggestions so far:
I am confident that my altpath is configured correctly. I have booted from
this drive with SLT's cut on other systems before, just never successfully
booted from an SLT cut on this system.
The SLT is being cut/checked/booted all on the same drive, a DDS-3 (it
shouldn't matter that I'm using a 60m tape in a DDS-3 drive, right?)
Part of my problem was that I was trying to do this remotely, by using
Stan's ONLINE program to mount the SLT before =SHUTDOWN. But apparently
CM>RS takes the tape offline again, or at least causes the SPU to forget
that it is online. So I came in and physically re-mounted the tape while
sitting at the boot menu, and now the results are slightly different. The
tape drive blinks a bit, then I see this:
Main Menu: Enter command or menu > bo alt
Interact with IPL (Y, N, or Cancel)?> y
Booting...
Boot IO Dependent Code (IODC) revision 4
HARD Booted.
...and then it just stops there. The front panel LCD says "INIT CBF8
REMOTE TRAPS CPU01".
So, anybody have any further clues for me? Thanks again.
