Attachmate released KEA! 700/98 version 5.1 at HP World 99. Attachmate
partnered with CSL in the UK (the Linkway guys) to enhance and test our HP
emulation offering.

You can kick the tires on new KEA! 700/98. From the following URL
http://www.attachmate.com/products/kea!hp/default.asp you can download a
fully functional 90 timeout version of the product.

And yes it is priced in between Reflection and MS92. KEA! has been around
for the VT emulation market as a high end VT emulator as long as Reflection
and is a very feature rich product (in configurability Reflection only
caught up at version 6). Attachmate is big in the IBM mainframe environment
with our EXTRA! product line and it was that customer base that initially
requested we do HP.

I was unaware that the FYIMail was not on the up&up for the show and I
apologize. Our field handling (touching fields and all) in version 4.3 was
not very good and that is why Powerhouse and Speedware based apps didn't
work well. In conjunction with CSL we did an overhaul on the emulation
engine for the 5.1 release and we are getting some good responses from
customers that have purchased it.

Shawn, did you get a chance to drop by the Attachmate booth at HP World and
get a new t-shirt to replace the faded one?

I would also like to say that I enjoy this listserv, its both educational
and entertaining. Art, Wirt, Denny et al keep it up. Thanks

KEA has been out for years. I remember looking at it at the Anaheim show
(I was wearing their t-shirt yesterday), they were using my FYIMail product
to show it off because of all the escape sequences I use (my distributor
gave it to them without telling me, it was a shock to see it at the show).
I don't think they handled PowerHouse and Speedware very well so they
seemed to kind of back off of the market for awhile, maybe they've got it
right now.

Adding to Shawn's list:

> MiniSoft..WS92 - cheap, good feature set, supports NS/VT and Telnet

transfer),

<not an endorsement or plug>

This past HPWorld saw Attachmate come out with KEA! providing HP Emulation
supporting NS/VT and Telnet, with File Transfer, and *I believe*, priced
between MiniSoft and Reflection.
