If in MPEX, you set these variables:
MPEXPRINTKEEPAMDATES = 1
MPEXCOPYKEEPAMDATES = 1
MPEXALTFILEKEEPAMDATES = 1
then you don't every have to add the option to the
various commands. I set these at a system-wide level,
so a search doesn't update all the file access date.
I don't own Vesoft stock (don't think it exists) but
have been a happy customer off and on for many years.
I try and get the product purchased anywhere I work
(along with Robelle and Adager products.)

I am not affiliated with VESoft in any way.
The simple answer to your question is MPEX from VESoft.
%PRINT @;SEARCH=cl"string";KEEPAMDATES
which will do a caseless search for "string" in all files in the SOURCE
group. without changing the date.

If there are other similar utilities that don't change the access date
(which is a feature) I would like to hear about them.
